PTS-3HD

The Stripping Head is powered by detachable Universal 100-240VAC Switching Power Supply (PTS-300P) with Built-in Temperature Controller. This allows the user to precisely match the temperature of the stripping element to the melting temperature of insulation in a vast variety of different types of wires and cables. It is housed in a separate enclosure which makes the stripping head very light.

There are 5 different Stripping Heads available.

An operator can easily switch to a different stripping head using the same power supply.

NOTE: Not designed for Low-Temperature insulations such as PVC etc.

The patented design features hard temper Ni-chromium alloy heating element, which heats up quickly (less than 4 seconds) to a maximum temperature of 1700°F. The correct stripping technique can be viewed in our video section.

The extremely thin heating element produces such negligible amount of fumes, that the use of these strippers does not require special ventilation. The fumes from the use of Thick Stripping Element designs should be exhausted.

The low mass, guarded element design minimizes the risk of burns, eliminates nicks and broken strands of conductors and reduces lead pull on sensitive components.

The element design features two sections. Ringing section (a heated section where the insulation is thermally separated) and pulling section where the thermally separated insulation slug is wedged between two parallel edges of the stripping element for an easy removal. Although this section of the element also carries the current which heats the separating section, it is not annealed (due to its greater widths and much lower resistance) and therefore it retains its hard temper. In addition, these edges are supported by .025″ thick, hard temper element support. This allows pulling long slugs of insulation without danger of damaging the element.

The stripping element is only .010″ thick (.008″ PTS-10) and therefore the thermally cut groove width is much narrower than the two element models offered by other manufacturers. This low mass thermal stripping technology means less power, faster heating time, shorter cooling time fewer fumes and higher quality strip. The longevity of the element is also greatly extended because the annealed portion of the element is used only for ringing (separating) the insulation rather than pulling off the slug.

Of course, there are no nicks because of the rounded edges of the stripping element. The heated section of the element is also protected by an element guard, thus reducing the risk of burns. The segmented design of the studs helps dissipate heat thus reducing the risk of burns even in prolonged use. The weight of the PTS-3HD stripping head is 5.2 oz. (0.150 kg.). There are also other unprecedented design features such as gauge selector, flicker accessory etc. not available on any other currently available tools. Patco Thermal Strippers also cost less than competitive models.

NOTE: TO OPERATE ANY OF THE 5 AVAILABLE STRIPPING HEADS, YOU MUST HAVE THE PTS-300P POWER SUPPLY!
